‘Alimentos de España 2024 Award’

This award recognises the variety of locally sourced and seasonal produce we use to create our Cellarium menu, as well as the special attention we pay to wine.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food will host a gala this coming October to present the awards in various categories.

We are delighted with this new recognition, which reflects the evolution of our restaurant, where wine takes centre stage, where dishes are created around the wine, offering unique pairings, and where the Ministry highlights our “culinary offering, which draws on a wide variety of local and seasonal produce, with a special focus on wine. The establishment is firmly committed to sustainability in its three aspects – economic, social and environmental – and has succeeded in boosting a sparsely populated area that has benefited from its success”.

Every year since 1987, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has awarded the Alimentos de España Awards, in which we have been honoured in the ‘Catering’ category, taking into account criteria such as our environmental and social commitment and our contribution to addressing demographic challenges through circular economy initiatives, carbon footprint measurement, the ‘Los Almendros’ apiary project and our organic vegetable garden, as well as the diversity of the menu and its temporal and spatial flexibility.

Premio Alimentos de España

“We would like to thank the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food for recognising Ambivium as a project committed to the rural community, to the development of the local area and to the resulting creation of wealth and employment, as well as for helping to establish our region as a tourist destination. We are a team that works every day with passion, effort and dedication to improve, always taking care of every detail,‘ said Pedro Ruiz, who also acknowledged the joy of receiving an award like this, ’which supports our commitment to creating unique experiences centred on wine, in which we showcase products from our immediate surroundings and from our country: both in solid and liquid form, both of which are fundamental to our Cellarium menu”.

Factors such as the youthfulness of our team – with an average age of 32 and 40% of the workforce being women – the retention of the population in Peñafiel and the surrounding area, the promotion of rural and sustainable tourism, as well as the promotion of the region’s culture and local produce, led the jury to select Ambivium, Alma Carraovejas`s gastronomic project, as the winner of the 2024 Alimentos de España Restaurant Award.

About the Alimentos de España Awards

The Alimentos de España Awards aim to promote and stimulate the various elements of the food chain in the production, processing, use, knowledge and consumption of Spanish food. They also seek to recognise efforts in marketing, innovation, rural development, environmental protection, internationalisation and the production of high-quality food.

The winners are selected by a jury comprising professionals of recognised standing, who assess the actions carried out by participants that contribute to stimulating the various elements of the food chain (production, processing, distribution, use, knowledge and consumption of our food).

They are one of the most successful instruments for promoting and supporting the agri-food sector developed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, as they contribute to the recognition of the work of organisations, entrepreneurs and professionals who have distinguished themselves by producing, processing, marketing and offering quality food to consumers, using advanced and environmentally friendly methods and technologies.

In the latest edition, nominations were invited for the following categories: food industry, innovation, entrepreneurship, organic production, food internationalisation, fisheries and aquaculture production, communication, promotion, catering, and initiatives to reduce food waste.

In the restoration category, awards have recently been presented to establishments such as Restaurante José María in Segovia, El Olivar in Moratalla (Murcia) and Gourmet Rodi in Campo de Borja.
